Shortbread is one of the first things I learned to bake. In the summer of 1970, I was a bored teenager held prisoner by my family in a farmhouse in the English countryside. No television, no Top 40 radio, and only one Beatles album to entertain me. Then I found a recipe for shortbread and my life changed forever. It didn't require any fancy equipment and I could buy some of the best butter in the world simply by walking to the village store.

These rounds, baked in a pie tin, scored into 8 wedges and pricked with traditional markings, make perfect hostess gifts and appreciated presents for the shortbread fancier. No charge for optional flavoring additions, including vanilla, lavender, or rosemary. Highly recommended to include in gift assortments.
